Family Fitness Rocks

Our high-energy, inclusive, fun fitness program for the whole family will help you and your family get moving in a fun, engaging way.

Fitness Rocks originally started as an annual event where people of all abilities could come and try different fitness activities. With a focus on families during the COVID-19 pandemic, Virtual Family Fitness Rock was born.

We are currently planning the re-launch of Fitness Rocks in September 2024! Keep an eye out for more information!

Move With Mayor Broome

In BR, fitness starts at the top! From bike rides to gym class, join Mayor Broome in promoting movement across the city.

Mayor Broome launched Move with Mayor Broome in 2018 to help promote all of the great ways people can be active here in Baton Rouge. Events include bike rides, fitness classes at the local YMCA, rock climbing, elementary school gym classes, running clubs and yoga. Mayor Broome joins other mayors from across the country in participating in Move with the Mayor through a partnership with the National Forum of Heart Disease and Stroke.

What Is BREC?

What better way to get moving than at one of BR’s 175 beautiful parks? Want to ride a horse, reach for the stars, come face to face with a tiger, score the winning goal or become an adventurer? BREC has it all!

With 175 parks, more than 100 miles of hiking and biking trails across Baton Rouge, and everything from arts and history to leisure and sports, there’s something for everyone.
