Baton Rouge Garden Alliance | Baton Rouge Community Garden Network

If you currently work with or know of an existing community garden, we'd love to hear from you to help us build this network!

Community gardens provide a place for community members to participate in growing healthy food and increase the quantity and variety of fresh food that’s available to them. Community gardens also offer an opportunity for participants to increase their physical activity and provide opportunities for social connection.

The purpose of the Community Garden Network is to:
  • Establish a centralized hub for reactivating and maintaining existing community garden assets

  • Provide community members with agricultural education opportunities; and

  • Provide technology resources, staff, and a volunteer certification program for long-term sustainability.

This project will build on previous work and relationships with existing Geaux Get Healthy partners, Baton Roots Community Farm and Baton Rouge Garden Alliance as well as, Louisiana State University Ag Center, Southern University Ag Center, 4-H,  and a comprehensive network of other community organizations.  The overarching goals of this effort are to provide leadership, education, project coordination, and infrastructure support to help create a thriving and sustainable community garden system.
Check back in April 2022 for more information about the Community Garden Network and how you can get involved!

Community Garden Network

There isn't "one right way" to garden in community. Instead, there are lots of right answers. We find strength, sustainability, and resilience in the diversity of our gardens..."
